Don't run.

Antibiotics aren't going to cure you by Sunday.

You might start to feel better but you won't have recovered.

New Marathon : Sterling Scotland

Is that in Sterling near Stirling?

They could televise it and get Dougie Donnelly to do the commentary.

Realistic goal for 50 yo?

My goal is a half marathon in 4.5 months. I know I can do the distance, two years ago I did it in 2h35 min with moderate training 3 times a week, occasionally only 1 or 2)

Is it realistic to want to do a time under 2h10 ( i.e. an average of 5.7 min/km) with dedicated speed and strength training and three runs a week? Any ideas, thoughts?

I would think it is quite easily possible with that preparation.

6 min/km will bring you in under 2:10, 5.7 min/km would be aiming for 2 hours.

Tommy, a charity fundraising megastar in the London Marathon.

some people here think he might not have been running the full distance.

Perhaps it was because of those pesky meddlers on here finding so many cheats that it cost them too much time investigating before they knew who the 1,000,000th finisher was

They didn't really know anyway since they hadn't really bothered sorting out cheats in all the previous years.

I suppose all that mattered was that the person selected as millionth finisher hadn't cheated and skipped half the course.

Speed endurance

I thought it was quite normal that your 10k time isn't simply 2xbest5k time.

A pace calculator would probably suggest your 10k time is more than 40 minutes based on the info given.

How long are your long runs?

Talkback: 48 runners disqualified from 10K for wearing headphones

I saw that happen numerous times at the Paris marathon this year but actually noted at the time (I had headphones in one ear (not bone conducting as they irritate me after a few hours) and they were allowed) that none of the ones that ignored the sirens near me were wearing headphones. They must have either been chatting to others, in the zone or really stupid! Thus, it can't be just headphones that are to blame.

That would be the deaf runners.

I guess they can't find any incidents from British races in recent years.
