God running debra

9 miles for me yesterday. Just over 18 today. Weather never got above zero  now officially worn out.

seren - what did you eat on your country to capital run the other weekend?

Hi All - email alerts seem to be not working

Debra - Really pleased your feet seem to be well and truly sorted. You can now get on with the task in hand!!

Terry - sorry to hear about you being in hospital and unable to run. But do what the Doc says and get well soon

Seren - Well done on the Country to Capital. I can't imagine running that far yet. Good for nutrition and pacing strategy

Slow Duck - Good long run for you too. The heat there is a bit more like South Africa than it is here at the moment

I've booked a tour for the Friday so I can do the park run on Saturday although I've never run the day before a race before.

When people do their back to back runs do you do the longer one on the first day or the second? Comrades training plan has it 2nd but a lot seem to do it the other way round. Maybe it doesn't matter. I had a much better long run this week than 2 weeks ago despite running 3 hours in the rain and sleet

How do you work out what pace and what run/walk strategy to use on the day?

Interesting question about long runs. I have converted Lindsay parry's schedule into miles. I have down to do 2 X 31/32 mile runs but will probably just do them at home instead of as a race. I have a 6 hour race too, the day before beccas and plan to do a marathon or maybe 1 more lap (3ish) miles but apart from that I only have a 20 a 24 and a 26 mile run over the 20 miles and I'm worried it's not enough. I really think I might have bitten off more than I can chew with this race

Happy New Yea to everyone. I started off the year with a very slow 5 miler which sorted out a slight headache  Going out for a 14 miler soon but coughing a lot and lost my voice so might put some walking in . It's all time on the feet.

Am also going to book all my flights in the next week or so. Having to go via Johannesburg as visiting people there on the way back and doing a few days safari in sun city

Happy Christmas to everyone

Glad your foot sounds on the mend Debra

I've not run at all for a week. Things keep happening on my run days

Anyway, will get a run in tomorrow and hopefully normal life will resume next week. I do love Christmas but I need to stop eating now

Lowrez - thanks for that link but I know my husband would like to get to the finish line to see me there. Not bothered about seeing me en route.

chicken nuggats - as terry says we'll wait and see re mini bus but maybe we'll need another list at some point

seren - hope you enjoyed sicily. Christmas is playing havoc with running plans. Everybody seems to want me to do something on my running days

oh no - my husband is coming with me and wants to be at the finish line. I knew he wouldn't be able to see me on route but thought he'd be able to get to the finish line. I know he won't drive over there.

Did someone ages ago mention someone who was thinking of hiring a mini bus?

Debra - sounds positive on the foot injury. Good look with running next week.

ive been doing squats this week trying to strengthen the quads etc but haven't tried with 1 leg although I sometimes do that when cleaning my teeth! I think I'll look at doing a bit more stuff at home. Must cancel gym membership. Haven't been in a while as I find it so borping.

caashford - how many hours a week do you up your running to in the new year when in full training? Might see you at Manchester though I'm not running it. Have entered my husband inti it as a Christmas present

May all of you with injuries be able to get through them soon and begin training in earnest.
