Carter - there is nothing wrong with being able to run 20 miles on 1st Jan. However - I would say that a trap many fall into is focusing on the long run at the expense of the overall mileage. I think you are better getting in, say, 10 miles on a session night and 13 miles on a MLR even if you have to compromise on your long run length rather than, say, 6 miles on a session night and 9 miles on a MLR and then doing 22 on a Sunday.
