Sound vs Silence

Personally I love to listen to music when I am running unless I need to work out some problems in my head. The music helps me keep my pace steady as well. However, for safety sake, if I am in an area that isn't well populated, I tend to turn it off

Phu I couldn't agree more!! I was getting demoralised as well, and now I am thrilled at my progess!

I will indeedy report back after the race, my boss said he was only giving me £5 per K if I ran it all and I am taking his money! LOL

I am glad I am working towards something like the RFL because I am doing it for more than one reason and have raised money towards charity and don't want to let anyone down. Hopefully the after affects is that I get to body of a supermodel as well! ha ha ha

Feel fantastic today if a bit knackered after my run but just had to give a huge thank you to everyone for the advice, it has made a BIG difference!!! My personal best running time in my R/W schedule had been 14 mins out of 35 on the treadmill. I monitored my speed while I was outside running today and I ran for 19 out of my 35 mins, it didn't kill me AND my legs feel much better than normal. Took a lovely scenic route along the railway line (even took piccies as proof for my hubby) LOL!

Also treated myself friday to go for gait testing and a new pair of proper running shoes and they are fab!

Thanks again every one, I am really psyched now!

Any brand new runners out there?

Wow that's really impressive!!

I started about 4 weeks ago as well and I am only just running 2 mins and walking for 1 minute outside, a little faster on the treadmill and run/walk 3 times a week. So I am well impressed with your 1/2 mile!! Well done! I am doing the Race for Life at the end of June so just hoping to be ready to run it all by then

I love this post. can a newbie join in? only been running for a month now, and still r/w but I always manage to get back upto a run when someone is driving by! LOL Trying to get rid of the ol' LA myself, and although I am not yet at the point where running is fun (is it even possible to love running?) it is good exercise!

I usually set my incline to 2 as the wind always seems to kick up when I am out running and I always seem to be running into the wind on my way home!  either that or I am so knackered it just feels that way! LOL

I will def invest in a HR monitor and I do feel like I am running fast for me outside so that must be it as well, I hadn't even thought of that!!! Many thanks!!

Hmm, wheezing is just due to me being out of shape I think

Thanks again all, this really is such a friendly helpful bunch!!!!

Thanks so much for the advice all! I really do appreciate it! It does feel better to know it's not just me I will try the treadmill at 3% and check my pace outside as well. I do prefer being outside as long as no one has to listen to me wheeze! LOL

Thanks again all, I really feel better about it now!!!!!
