Dirt half - Leighton Buzzard - Saturday 16th November

Posted: 18/11/2013 at 13:54

Hi both - it was a great run, not too cold and dry enough underfoot, though interesting in places. I had a real go at the off road section and loved the roller coaster ride!

Managed 1.37ish but my sore gluteous area meant a fast finish was off the books - great cake and hot coffee too! My 'other half' also finished 2 minutes outside of a 2 hour finish. Would love to come back and have another go

"The fresh air will be good for you" as my grandma used to say!

Seriously, just chill today and drink plenty, nice night in and an early night with a hot toddy perhaps? And don't dress too warm tomorrow; that hill is gonna bring you out in a sweat!

Excellent report Cowgirl! You paint a good picture and i'm looking forward to it immensely; will get a chance to look around as I'm carrying an annoying glute pain but not bad enough to stop me running! I think it was SOTF in Nottingham that caused the internal bruising

All that rain recently will make it interesting; does look ideal running weather though - can anyone describe 'the hill' as I've not run this before ....

Hey CowGirl: did you have any luck with that entry?

I have a spare from a bod that cannot now make it.

The weather does look bloody crap last year!! The forecast changes so much, but if it's mid teens then its plenty warm enough and if the wind arrow points to the right, that's good yeah? Means it'll be behind us all the way  just keep the rain away please.

"likely will have a pair of long (PBAB - compression) tights in the drop bag and will hopefully not need them weather dependant!" Ditto Benjamin - it'll take some rough weather before I dig them out ....

Hi all - it's a big thumbs up on the toe socks from me - and with a bit of lube too, I find they work well. I too have the toe rubbing thingy, so to separate them is good!

Upstairs at the mo are piles of running gear, including post run compression tights and socks, head bands, bum bags and nip guards; weather pending we'll sort it all out on the Friday night into correct drop bags.

Both feeling nervous and bit excited, wanting to get going and stay injury free.

Lizzie, have you tried the eating / running in training? Surprising what you can do when you're reallllllllllllllly hungry .... and sick of gels!

Morning all - it's a bit chilly for June isn't it! Had a bit of trail and road this morning - still blowing orange and red paint after the colour 5k and the eyes look suspiciously made up after a heavy night out - thankfully the green, blue and purple washed out though!

Cabbey, for the one day halfway bag I thought spare socks, change of shoes then as I am a sweat monster, and new shorts and top too - pop in a long sleever, compression stuff for later just in case of chills, head torch too. Maybe change the cap / McEnroe sweat band - it's the only thing that keeps my earphones in!

Hope the weekend racing went well, and PAB, a pickled onion - om nom nom!
