Malta Marathon 2015

Posted: 08/08/2014 at 14:32

I have been thinking about the Malta marathon, too. I have been to Malta a couple of times and I love the country. My Hubby is half-Maltese. Had no idea the route is so downhilly but it is useful to know. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for the entry opening in October.

PUMA webchat

My questions is not exactly shoe related but hopefully someone might be able to help! I love the PUMA gym graphic tank top on the cover of the September issue of the Runnersworld magazine, however I was unable to find it online to buy one. Could you tell me if this is not available any more or whether it is so new that it will only be available later for purchase? Thanks a lot.

Annoyances when out running

People who hoot or whistle at me when I am deep in my thoughts or just wanna be left alone. On the other hand, perhaps I should not get worked up, they may be doing this because they find me attractive LOL

Bike Recommendation for Novice

Posted: 03/07/2014 at 16:09

Hi All

I am sure this question has been asked a few times before but I have a very tight timeframe to make a decision so it is quicker to open a new thread for this...

I am looking to purchase a bike through the cycle to work scheme at Halfords, my budget is max. £450. I am looking for a good quality road bike or hybrid bike within this price range. I would be grateful for some top tips and suggestions. What to get, what to avoid in terms of brand and must have’s on the bike.

For example, are Pendleton and Boardman bikes any good?

The key thing for me when it comes to cycling is a smooth ride on a variety of elevations (I don’t mind uphill/downhill) so primarily road, pavement and tarmac. I would be reluctant to cycle on hard core surfaces, mud, forest, rocky roads etc. I want a bike that is suitable for sports/fitness (potentially something I could use if I wanted to enter a duathlon) rather than just a causal ride to work or the local shop.

Thanks a million!

What's on your headphones?

Talking about free running music podcasts, my favourite is DJ Peter Canellis - he is on iTunes and he is a runner himself so he knows about good beats for different types of runs! The type of music he does is trance, electro, house so if you are into this sort of thing, you will love it. I have had a number of PB runs listening to his music!

The Garmin 210 would be a good option but it costs well above £50. Perhaps it's worth looking for this on ebay or a similar place for a lower price?

Running in Essen

Hi All

My Hubby and I are planning a city break in Essen in October. Does anyone know of any good parks, riverside trails to run/walk/cycle on?

Cheers

Good luck, Frances! What made you choose an Ultra as your first big challenge? You may want to set smaller goals along the way, just to keep the momentum up. Looking forward to reading more about your adventures.

I like to have music for longer runs to figh monotony, evening runs (with caution!) when I can't see much and need some entertainment. I have also used music during the final 10k of a marathon where I needed the extra energy coming from a good beat. I do not use music for forest/trail runs, I see no need as I want to fully immerse myself in nature.
