I've seen some of the cycling and it's been very good. But what's the deal with the bloke on the moped? I think his name is Kieran, and for some reason the cyclists have to follow him round the track for 5 or 6 laps before they're allowed to race. Seemed a bit weird.

The Men's 10K was fantastic, go and watch it right now if you haven't seen it yet.

Probably makes more sense to look at GDP?

Australia - $1.2 trillion

EU - $16.2 trillion

UK - $2.8 trillion

(I make it that we've lost a tenner and found a quid)

We have the result of a referendum but no article 50 invoked and as far as I can tell, no actual requirement to invoke it. I might be wrong because law is not really my subject but as far as I can tell, the democracy we all enjoy is really just a weathervane for the government to gauge public opinion and continue leading us however they want therefore we might or might not leave the EU but not until on balance it suits the EU, Britain and the rest of the world at once. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some other country leave the EU before Britain got round to it.

Legally the referendum result means nothing, politically it means rather a lot. Legally speaking there's nothing to stop the government ignoring the result or holding a 2nd referendum. But the political fallout of either of those actions would be huge.

There are a few interesting legal questions that are not yet answered. It's not clear if the Prime Minister can unilaterally invoke Article 50 or if that requires a vote in the House Of Commons. We don't have a written constitution, so it's hard to say. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a vote, even if it isn't legally required.

It's also not 100% clear if Brexit requires the consent of the Scottish Parliament. I'm pretty sure the Scotland Act allows the UK to leave the EU without that consent, but IANAL.

Personally, I expect Article 50 to be triggered sometime in the first half of next year. I don't see any way (politically) that it can be avoided.

I hope it's May, I don't particularly like her - bit too right-wing for my tastes. But we really need a responsible adult running the country right now. I mean, fox hunting FFS. Is that really the most pressing issue facing the country?

One other thought. If Leadsom did win with only a quarter of her own MPs having voted for her, then doesn't that put her in similar difficulties to Corbyn?

Has anyone's life fallen through the floor yet because of this vote?

Ok, I'm aware that anyone shifting money out of Sterling across the worlds ponds on Thursday night got buggered, but that's about it.

When the FTSE crashed on Friday I reckon I lost about £10K (pension and ISA). It bounced back up a bit, but I'm still down about £7K.

My brother put an offer in on a house a couple of weeks ago, buy he hasn't sold his own yet so he's now in a potentially difficult position.

My friend's wife was verbally abused on Friday. Apparently she's "come over here" and "stolen" someone's job.

My girlfriend's mother needs to go through the hassle and expense of applying for British Citizenship, otherwise she may get kicked out at some point in the not too distant future.

But at least we got our sovereignty back.

FWIW, I think we'll (eventually) end up in the EEA / EFTA. We'll still have free trade and free movement and things won't really be all that different. But the many years it's going to take to unravel all the current agreements and make new ones are going to be pretty rocky.

1. Remain

2. Mostly self-interest (i.e. I think I'll personally be better off), but also the Leave campaign has failed to answer the fairly basic question of what sort of relationship we will have with the EU if we quit. So if you vote Leave what exactly are you voting for?

3. Up until a week ago I was pretty confident Remain would win. Right now I'm quite nervous and I think it could go either way.

I have a Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI. Not sure if it's affected by this - they don't sell Skodas in the US, but I imagine all the VAG engines are basically the same underneath.

I'm not sure how bad this will be for VW, I expect there's a lot more information to come out. This is VW's share price, something like £20 billion (or $ or €, I forget) got wiped off.
