New for August based at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire, a Midnight Marathon using the Southdowns Way National Trail and during the day Gravel Hill 50-50 Ultra with 50km or 50m options using a 5m loop around the country park. No need to carry any mandatory equipment for the Ultras as you pass base every 5 miles. Entries are limited. Details here www.secondwindrunning.co.uk

Training tips would be very welcome from those who have experience, how do you get enough hill training in, the Southdowns just don't seem technical or hilly enough!

I'm in for the CCC ballot again also with a double ticket but hoping there is a TDS space if I don't get in! Need to do some serious training I've been slacking over the winter

GPS Running Watch - Advice Please

At the cotswold 102 my suunto ambit on 1 min sampling recorded 101 miles I think that's pretty impressive! Not so good if there are loops or switchbacks though!

well done to everyone that raced this year

can anyone tell me why do the CCC/ UTMB/ and now OCC seem to be over subscribed but there always seem to be places on the TDS for those who don't get in to the others? I was contemplating the TDS if unsuccessfull in the CCC ballot next time but is there a reason why it isn't as popular?

I'd rather run for as long as I can and slow down later if needed as long as I'm running at a nice gentle pace it seems to work, upto 50m anyway! I did a 50k starting at road marathon pace minus 30 seconds which led to a very painful last 10 miles, I wouldn't recommend that tactic!

I did the summer plod too fairy clogs, was a lovely course, marking did seem to be a little sporadic in places though, a few times I had to run back and make sure I was still on track! I managed to have a lovely swim in the big too!

In the end I went for the under armour long shorts, slightly see through but really light and half the price of 2xU and no hem bulges!

Can anyone recommend Paul Harradine for orthotics?

Paul is good, I've ditched my orthotics now they didn't fix my problem but I have seen 4 different podiatrists over the years and can't fault Paul!
