NZC - the was good friendly marshals, plenty of public toilets and a good goodie bag with t-shirt and food in it plus a medal. It wasn't meant to be a pb marathon as I was running with a friend and with a fellow club mates number.

The 3rd lady finished without doing the 3rd lap and was disqualified. The distance was 0.5 miles out at 2 miles.

Get back into Central park on what I think is our last lap only to be told from a fellow lady runner that is 3 laps. She was almost in tears. It was meant to be a small 3rd lap. So another lap of that grass last minute field then they send us same way as the big lap passed the bungalows oh hell please not Hylands park. Thank god just back into central park then passed the fin

Then reverse route back to the other end of Hylands park. We then round that part of the course then back past the start field to the most stupid part of the course to a narrow bit the goes under a subway toward M&S and Primark. They had coned it in to 3 lanes, one lane each for runners and one for the public. The lanes are only the width of my body.

Then it's back the finish line. Jane went a toilet, then lap 2. This where I really struggled. Had to sit down a water station and pour water over myself. I then caught Jane up, well she saw me catching her up and waited for me at the top of a hill.

Then we picked up a bridle path that tok us to Wittle, great local support. This was the more hill part of the course a pit down hill up hill and down hill to another foot path that  brought us to the road outside Hylands park. You enter the park and the is a drag up hill followed by a nice bit on gravel path and the hell begins. They get you running on more wet grass, gravel paths with out and back bits that end up turning round on muddy slippery grass. There was a nice down hill back to the car park in the park. Quick loo visit while Jane got drinkNor water and a sponge

Had a bad marathon yesterday. First  12 miles was ok, but then the heat got to me and I felt sick.

Not Impress with Chelmsford 1st marathon. The start was 20 delayed, just so the warm up person could do the warm. God knows why they started late. As the course had to be changed at the last minute due to grass next to river being flood.

Started in Central park ran around square then rowards the other end of the park on to the extra bit of revised long muddy uneven grass for 3 sides of a regtangle. Then the course left the park on pavement down a residential road past those post war bungalows. Then we turned back into Central park and first I thought we were running up someone's drive.
