Trainers question

Just because you overpronate doesn't mean you'll actually be better off in a more supportive shoe.  If you've been running injury free in your current shoe I'd suggest replacing them with the current model or something similar

I thought it was you I'd seen at the Denbies 10 GB but wasn't certain enough to come and say hello.  Shall keep an eye out for you at Molehills.

Not quite sure how you define 'jogging' versus 'running properly' but no and no.

Plenty of time for a nice steady build up to the distance.  Go for it.

On a road ride I usally take canisters and a pump.  I'm too feeble to achieve the necessary pressure with a pump but find it useful to 'shape' the tube (or find the hole if out of spare tubes) before putting tyre back on.

Injury holding me back

Posted: 12/10/2014 at 22:51

As I suggested above, you need to forget what you used to do and try to embrace being slow - for the moment. Easier said than done, I know.

Would you find it less frustrating if you actually set out with a run/walk stategy for each run?

Injury holding me back

Posted: 12/10/2014 at 19:31

When I tried to start running regularly after a long break I kept picking up injuries, mostly in the lower leg, cos I was trying to run like I used to rather than how my body was ready for. Once I accepted that I could not run as well as I used to and went right back to basics - ie really slow run/walk - I stopped getting injured and made progress.  Several months on I still havene't got the speed back but endurance is building nicely and  injuries (touch wood) seem to be a thing of the past.

So possibly, a combination of the extra weight and pushing yourself too hard too soon?
