Hey Podds. I am also crap at hills but did IMA last year, live on the edge of the Surrey Hills and have recently incorporated Box Hill into one of my cycle commute routes.
Barley is right saying it's a rolling course. Some undulating sections, a few false flats and some really nice fast bits.
The two 'significant' climbs on the IMA course are at approx 20/74 miles and 40/94 miles. The first is pretty similar in terms of lenght and gradient to the climb up to Newlands from the A246 (Guildford) side.
The second is the tougher of the two in my opinion. Not because it's scarily steep or anything, it just goes on a bit with varying gradients. Maybe a cross between Box Hill and Staple Lane (from A264, east of the Newlands turn, to junction with Coombe Lane)
Hope that helps
