New shoes rubbing arches: insole question

Posted: 15/04/2014 at 21:39

Think that fault was with the Adrenaline GTS 14, the 13 were fine. Credit to Brooks for withdrawing and replacing all faulty GTS 14s

Would suggest the Saucony Omni is closer to the GTS than the Guide.

However, might be worth just getting your gait checked again in case it has changed - or to pick out any possible muscular-skeleto imbalances which are causing you to run slightly differently.

Well done IGIT

Long ride for me today. 62 or so relatively flat miles. Went encouragingly well except that I forgot about my nutrition plan so had a bit of an energy blip in the middle so had to have a brief stop to recoup. Second half was slower and slightly more undulating but, except for a couple of slightly longer upflats, managed to maintain a reasonable speed - for me.

Might have to do the same route again next weekend (and try to get the nutrition right to see how much differnce it makes) before varying it to add in some proper hills.

Have a massage booked tomorrow which I think is going to be a bit ouchy on the quads and ITB

pacing it wrong???

As booktrunk suggests, could be a nutrition thing.

Slowing down a bit might help - could you hold a conversation while you're running? If not, definitely slow down.

It's probably worth sticking at 5k for a while, repeating the last week of your programme. When you can complete a 5k run without feeling shattered, that's the time to gradually increase the distance.

Good luck and stick with it

Brand new here

What your feet need is a shoe that is suitable for your gait and are comfortable to wear.

Running shoes arevery individual items.  Just cos one person thinks a particular shoes is the best thing since sliced bread doesn't mean it'll be any good for you. Similarly, one person's bad experience in a particularl shoe or brand doesn't automatically mean that shoe/brand wont suit you.

I believe Sweatshop allow you to return shoes after running in them a few weeks if they don't suit.

Women's sizes VS Junior

The kid's version are cheaper partly cos they're vat free.

Other than that, they may be a bit narrower and slightly less cushioned as they're designed for a child's weight/build. If you're fairly light on your feet you'd probably be ok.

You've left that a bit late! Hope you've got a fallback plan

Good luck and enjoy
