Week one successfully completed

Don't forget you have till 8am tomorrow (Tues) to log last week's workouts.  However, because of this you can't log any week 2  workouts till tomorrow.

Am I just unfit?

Well that's good news. Fingers crossed things remain as they should be from here on in. Enjoy

Hi Pips, welcome and congrats on progress so far. A improvement of over 10 mins for 10k in a matter of months is good going.

IMO 6-8hrs per week is absolutely fine at the moment, particularly for a relative exercise newbie.  This 20 week half iron schedule peaks at aboutf 11hrs per week and that's not unitl about week 15.

I'd guess that Hever is your main target for the year with the other tri's being sprint/oly as training events.  Much also depends on what you want to achieve. Just finish obviously requires less training/effort than going for a particular time.

The key is consistant and quality seassions and a steady build up.

Trogs, why did you alter my figure? I wanted to separate out the weeks to keep an eye on my progression through the weeks ie 3 weeks of build 1 week of recovery. I would tally them up at the end.

Apologies SaintB, assumed it was a cut/paste/tech issue. I'll leave well alone in future.

Eliminator Race 7th Feb - Newbie any tips on CLOTHING??

Base layers are generally lighter weight kit designed to be worn under something else as part of a 'layering' system.

Compression kit is tight fitting kit designed to improve venous return and provide compression to stabilize/minimize muscle movement.

Neither will keep you warm once it gets wet. I would suggest wearing the oldest pair of standard running tights and technical top that you own on the basis that you may need to chuck it away once you've finished.

You may also like to consider that less maybe more - depending on how cold it actually is on the day. Wet, muddy kit can get heavy and uncomfortable so wearing capri/shorts might be better. Your skin dries quicker than kit.

As for race day tips, expect to get wet and muddy and have lots of fun
