PSOF 10th Anniversary Champs

Today I have swum and cycled and run. Ok, so distances were small but, for me, this is a bit extreme for this early on in the year

Training schedules

Posted: 13/01/2015 at 21:55

Becks,  quite a few regulars on the 'Training for a shorter tri' thread are now actually training for half/full IM so their training is not representative of what is required for shoter distances.

Deciding what to aim for

Posted: 12/01/2015 at 16:43

If 4:40 seems optimistic for you why not aim for 5:00 which roughly equates to 11m/m.

Dont have the figures to hand but fairly certain in the run up to my first mara I did a 1:40 10 miler (Sep) , a 2:12 half (Mar) and managed 4:58 for the mara (Apr).

Week one successfully completed

Don't forget you have till 8am tomorrow (Tues) to log last week's workouts.  However, because of this you can't log any week 2  workouts till tomorrow.

Am I just unfit?

Well that's good news. Fingers crossed things remain as they should be from here on in. Enjoy

Triathlon wannabe

Posted: 10/01/2015 at 13:10

Hi Pips, welcome and congrats on progress so far. A improvement of over 10 mins for 10k in a matter of months is good going.

IMO 6-8hrs per week is absolutely fine at the moment, particularly for a relative exercise newbie.  This 20 week half iron schedule peaks at aboutf 11hrs per week and that's not unitl about week 15.

I'd guess that Hever is your main target for the year with the other tri's being sprint/oly as training events.  Much also depends on what you want to achieve. Just finish obviously requires less training/effort than going for a particular time.

The key is consistant and quality seassions and a steady build up.
