Of the three suggestions I usually ramble on about, the first (couch to 5k) and second (parkrun) have already been covered.
The third, once your confidence is starting to grow is to join a local running club. I'd imagine there will be loads of members at your local parkrun each week.
A good club, will welcome all standards, and if you've been to two or three parkruns, most will assume you're part of the scene already.
