Morning isn't really practical Cake as I'm coming from Norfolk and I didn't want to then be stuck in London all day with nothing to do!  From what I can gather this year a lot of the freebies seem to be gels and stuff, which I don't use anyway

Forgot I need to post a picture, although my running vest also has my name on it now in sparkly white letters!

 See you Sunday everyone!!

When we went last year on the Saturday afternoon there weren't any freebies and most of the stalls seemed to be either the gold bond place ones or ones that wanted you to buy something, so I didn't really see the point in bothering again this year!  Want to get a Bondi headband from the DMP stall, but that's it really

Not really sure yet, sorting out train times with my friend who's coming with me tomorrow; she's been on holiday in Japan so bit last minute with some stuff!!  Probably not until mid afternoon though as we don't really want to just be hanging around in the hotel room stressing!

Hello!  It stopped sending me notifications that people had posted and I've been too busy at work to drop on

I've now got my vest and my sparkly name letters came today so will post a picture of me in my kit tonight or tomorrow

I'm coming up on the Saturday so will be at the expo in the afternoon and then straight off to the hotel.  To be honest I probably won't stay there long as I don't want to spend ages on my feet on Saturday, need to save them for Sunday!!

All feels a bit real now doesn't it!

Hello!!!  New arrival here!!  So, details:

Forum name: Two-Stroke Tart, or TST

Real name: Sarah

Estimated arrival time at Mudchute: around 2:15 (assuming it takes me about 15 minutes to get across the start)  I know that's late so if it's going to be an issue please say, I don't want you hanging around for hours after everyone else just for me.  I'm walk/running (injuries, again) and I've been averaging around 15 minute miles in training so I'm hoping that will work out the same on the day.

Description of race gear: I'm running for Mind, but I'm still waiting on my vest.  Will stick up a picture when I get it

Special needs: just big hugs and encouragement!!  We won't be getting to the expo until fairly late on the Saturday so not sure if anyone will be around to leave bits with, but if there isn't it doesn't matter as I have someone who can do that a bit further along the course

And will be awesome to finally meet you ST!

Hi Caz, you're going to hate me, but can I sneak in late for a cheer and a hug?  I've been struggling with injuries and totally forgot to sign up, and you were so fabulous last year that I could really do with your support again.  Think I was the last one through and you were still there waiting for me.

If it's too late to be part of an actual group don't worry, I'll just come over for a general hug and cheeriness as I come past!

Oh, I've snuck on quickly at work so I'll go back and read the thread tonight and catch up with everything

Trail or road shoe on mixed terrain?

Posted: 20/01/2014 at 17:19

Been going to Macclesfield a couple of times a year for 17 years and I've never yet been when it hasn't rained at least once when we've been there, even in the summer!!!  Every time I've done this route it's been boggy so as I've got to do more of it this time thought it was time to get some shoes

London Marathon Starting Pens

Posted: 20/01/2014 at 15:21

Legend, are you at the red or blue start?

I was at the blue start last year and there didn't seem to be any actual pens as such, just boards with numbers or something on so it seemed like you could start where you liked.  Admittedly I started right at the back as I was injured and didn't want to get in the way of everyone, and it may be a lot stricter at the front.  There are a hell of a lot less people at the blue start so you would also get a faster pace for the first three miles

Giving up the booze

Posted: 20/01/2014 at 13:25

Hello everyone, old and new   Not been about for a while as I've had a lot going on; work's been busy, and I've been put on medication for my depression which has taken a lot of getting used to. Plus I tend to stay away from things during December as I don't cope with the silly season very well.

So, still off the booze, was 2 years in November, so really pleased.  I'm finally getting seen by a psychiatric specialist to assess what my mental health problems actually are, it may be depression or there is a possibility that I may be bi-polar, which would explain a lot of things!

Training for the VLM is going ok, albeit as run/walk so that my biomechanics problem can sort itself out.  I managed 10 miles on Saturday with only minor hip or knee pain on the actual run and no stiffness either the yesterday or today, which is a first for a long time so the 30 minutes of stretching and rollering every day is obviously helping!

Hope everyone is doing ok
