Q&A with #asics262 physio Sarah Connors

Hi I have been running 5 years avg weekly mileage of 45 haven't change shoes only therapy was to push up on the joint under the ball while trying to curl toe and physically push toe under . on the biomechanics front when I started running was told I was neutral  however physio  said he thought I did roll from the heel inward and seemed to push off with big toe. coincidently just started reading last night a   book on trigger point massage found a sore point on shin about midway which I started working on.

Hi Sarah

I haven't been able to run for the past nine months due to problems with my flexor hallucis brevis .Despite nhs physio giving my a couple of exercises to do which I did with out fail the pain and tenderness still persists. in fact the exercises seemed to make the the problem worse.

I have had an xray and mri nothing showed up e.g stress fracture although and he could not elaborate there was some mechanical change. I thought in recent weeks things were slightly better but after short cycle ride  the next day I am hobbling round again. I'm desperate to get running again any suggestions would be  appreciated

Many Thanks Valis

Long time

Its good to see everyone still here plus an addition or two keeping tabs on the wild life in the early hours.

Due to a foot injury all my running came to a halt back in late June and have spent this week cancelling races for next year. After a x-ray ,Mri and several trips to physio's the various doctors and physios seem to think it is the flexor hallucis brevis that is the cause of the problems but despite various exercises it does not seem to be healing. Oh well I''l get there eventually.

you'll be glad to hear Birky I have made nearly every home game this season with my  youngest Nephew, highlights punching the ball as it came into the crowd from a Schurrle free kick. and seeing Costa's goal against Arsenal hit the back of the net and the Spurs game wasn't bad either.

With my new found time I have started brewing my own ale first a couple of kits now with grain and hops the results have been very good but along with the amount curries I have been consuming, the lack of running has seen me put on 6 kgs    being tall and thin has helped hide the fact slightly.

Maybe back next year  Hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy new year please feel free to run a few of my missed miles for me.
