Good reply, MG2,

Running in light rain/autumn/winter - what to wear?

Posted: 01/09/2015 at 15:59

Agree with gloves. I used to think football players were wimps, when they wore short sleeves and gloves, but they really do work. If you get hot easy but have cold hands, then that is the answer, that's for sure.

Running in light rain/autumn/winter - what to wear?

The Karrimor range at Sports Direct is cheap and cheerful. I like the Adidas range, a bit pricier, but it is better quality.. Always always wear breathable.... wear anything else and you will get too hot once running.

You want to be starting your run cool, (I think that has been said already) as when you get going, you quickly warm up. Don't wear too much as you will boil under all the clothes. Wear layers til you find what's best.

As you get better at judging the weather, you can adapt what you wear. I never wear a jacket, and wear as little as I can get away with in the winter, layers usually.

And do remember that skin is waterproof! You may find that a cool run in the rain to be exhilarating!

I am no expert, but is it the tendons? Check the internet, the podiactric doctors type ones. I find that the website of private surgeons/ practices are good.

Overheating during runs!

Agree with all.

One thing. You started training in the colder months, and we have had unseasonal warmer weather on and off in the past month.

I find that my body takes time to adapt to the warmer temps. So when it is April and warm, its v hard to run in warm weather. But, as the months go by, the body slowly adapts to the warmer weather, and it does get better. Come July, yes I do find it hard, but it is easier than when it was April.

Just stay with is, allow yourself to go a little slower when its warmer, and your body should get used to running in warm. Good luck!

Best way to progress as a beginner?

Yes, agree. You are running 2 miles - a short distance - but too fast... increase your mileage gradually, and give yourself permission to run slower than you think you should. Good luck. x

Time to enter a 10k race....

Also have you tried Parkrun? Google it.

Good luck!

Good luck with it xx

My HRM strap went once, and I tried to change the battery to no avail, I still would not pick up a signal.. I took advice for the net/ RW forum, and it said to put the battery upside down from its normal position, for a certain period of time (cannot remember how long, but it wasn't ages). Then put it in the correct way around.

I tried it, and it worked. It was something witchcraft-y to do with polarisation and negative fields or something like that. There was an explanation about it, but I couldn't understand it.

It worked that's the main thing... I have always found good advice re HRMs and watches on the RW forum/ other runners forums.

I know this may be wrong, but has the battery gone???????

I know they are rechargeable, but even rechargeable have a limited life.

Or try re-setting it, as per manufacturers instructions.

I got mine, two months ago or so, at £125 on Amazon... it was on special though. Re the bezel, I just lock mine, and its fine.
