The Perfect Run

Posted: 19/11/2013 at 20:53

Last night, a cold but very calm night. I hated it at the start, thought to myself i can't wait to get to the end. 2Miles in and i just wanted to keep going, ended up 51/2 miles, managed a personal best and almost went for longer, if it had'nt been so dark (damn council cut backs) and the fact i was almost back to the car i would have.

hoping tomorrow will be the same.

I'm managing to get out 2 or 3 times a week, 3 - 4 miles, i bought a new knee support and been seeing a phisyo. watched a load of vids on youtube of various stretches, doing them as often as i can.

It still hurts but nowhere near what it was a few weeks back. Foam rolling has helped the most in my opinion. I bought anica oil and been using it daily, i read somewhere this helps with the pain (might be all in the head, but it does seem to be doing something)

Trying to avoid hills as that's when it hits really bad.

Keep us posted mate.

Another trip to physio today, he says it probably is the IT band. He gave me a load of stretches, gonna do them as often as possible.

Walking has become a challenge now, in constant pain so looks like running is out the window for at least another week

A quick update, sticking to 5k for the moment and foam rolling daily.

Managing 5k with just a little pain, I've had 2 days rest so back out tomorrow. Hopefully it's the beginning of the end of the pain.

Saw a Physio today, he said there seems to be a problem with my left leg in general. It seems to bend slightly to the right!

he tried a load of different stretches, non of which caused any pain at all. He gave me some insols to try for 2 weeks before seeing him again. I hope they work, they feel like i have snooker balls in my trainers!

the letters ITBS never came up once, so i'm starting to doubt thats the problem.

okay, i spoke to soon . Went out last night, Endomondo said i did 4.25 miles and man the last mile i ended up limping.

for the people who i ran passed and ended up slipping off the curb onto the road it must have been quite amusing but for me, i was in a world of pain.

I'm going to phone physio in the morning and get the appointment!

My pain as almost gone completely. i managed 4 miles Thur and Sat, and felt a little twinge but nothing near what i felt a couple of weeks back.

Going out again later, hope the pain has gone for good.

I've had a letter to make an appointment to see Physio, i dont know whether i will as i'm not in any serious pain atm,

Thanks for all you're help guys, this forum rocks

Brand new to running and exercise as a whole

Almost 5 weeks in and i'm now managing 3.5+ miles per run, with an ongoing itb issue.

really pleased with myself, pleased with my weight loss (creaping up to 2 st) and feeling great.

Hit my first 5k last week at 24mins 46secs (according to Endomondo app), no idea if thats any good but it made my day

Thanks for the advice all, trying to get out every other day or at least 3 times a week
