Runners Women's Running Network (Newton Abbot, Devon)

Fourteen members (13 photographed) of the Women's Running Network in Newton Abbot, Devon (plus two husbands) took part in the Paris Marathon 2009. This photo was taken straight after the race (our coach "Bossy" is on the far left). For six of the runners it was their first marathon, and many went on to complete the Dublin or Beachy Head Marathons in the autumn.

We call ourselves the Marathon GITs (Girls in Training sometimes....). We all have a good sense of humour, train together, support each other and always look forward to the post-race celebrations - it's the chemistry that makes us love to run.

Next year six of us will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon, while the rest of us head to the Jersey Marathon in October.

I've got some lovely pics of my long runs, but as I don't have a pet photographer, I'm not actually *in* any of them.

Nice socks!

My bro's a very keen amateur photographer, maybe I should give him an assignment to see if we can bag some 'free running goodies'.

He popped down to support me in the Beachy Head marathon this year, and took some nice shots considering how miserable the weather was. Quite like this one (I'm in there somewhere...)
