Hitting your stride is not always easy, but here’s some good news: there’s a hidden saviour in your kit bag – your MP3 player. The most effective training tracks have strong rhythms and a tempo that matches exercise intensity.
Our latest playlist was created with these findings in mind. The result? A 60-minute pop mix to rhythmically guide you through your training.
The sequence of songs corresponds to an interval session made up of 10 four-minute efforts, each followed by a two-minute recovery. The tempo also builds throughout the playlist, so that each effort and recovery is slightly faster than the last, making it great for boosting stamina.
While the tempo of the music is important, the song’s vibe can also have a significant impact on your performance – pop is a failsafe when you need a pick-me-up, so a whole playlist of feel-good beats should keep you on your toes. Plus, motivational lyrics such as those in On a Mission, Ready for the Weekend and Chase the Sun will give you a mental boost when you feel like you’re starting to flag. I have to say I was not convinced but I as often run with music (not always though), I thought I'd give it a listen and try. V impressed and as a result I have downloaded the other two!!!
