For the fourth time in a row, marathoner Larry Macon has broken the Guinness World Record for marathons run in a year.

The 69-year-old lawyer, who hails from San Antonio in the US, completed no less than 239 races in 2013, running a total of 6,261.8 miles in the 12-month period.

Macon, who started running marathons in 1996, set his first Guinness World Record for most marathons run in a year in 2008, finishing 105 marathons. Two years later he broke his own record by running 113 marathons and again in 2012 with 157 marathons.

“The hard part is traveling from place to place, making connections and going 2-3 days without sleep,” Macon told Runner's World US in January. “Once you get to the race, you can always run, walk or crawl to finish the 26.2 miles.”
