When you start running, your cardiovascular fitness and muscles develop very quickly, and it's easy to feel invincible. But connective tissue can take much longer to catch up, so the challenge of speedwork, with its explosive starts and fast turns, can cause injuries. Don't worry if you don't feel 'fast' right now - just run your speedwork sessions faster than your normal pace.
