DoNation: A new way to sponsor

An environmentally friendly way to sponsor

by Annie Rice

Are you tired of asking for or being asked to give cash handouts in the name of sponsorship? You know it’s for a good cause but it can become a little much for the wallet. DoNation are an exciting initiative encouraging people to sponsor in the form of actions instead - all in the name of going green.

The concept is simple and operates much like typical sponsorship pages; you set yourself a challenge, set up an online sponsorship page and tell all your friends to sponsor you. Sponsors can opt to sponsor you with any of the 38 green sponsorship actions. Each action is weighted with points in relation to how much CO2 the said action will save. Our favourites include:

  • Air drying your clothes: 590kg of CO2 saved
  • DoDiet - Cutting out processed junk food (and calories): 3665kg of CO2 saved
  • Game off - unplug electronic games and toys and play outdoors: 185kg of CO2 saved
  • Eat seasonably – eat local seasonal food: 15989kg of CO2 saved
