Find our more about Home Run – a new scheme in London promising to take the stress out of your running commute
Keen to avoid the frantic hustle and bustle of public transport? Like running but hate running backpacks?
A solution is at hand (for lucky Londoners, at least). The exciting initiative Home Run launches fully next week, a scheme that will have all your office clobber lugged back to your home so you don’t have to – and even better, it’s free.
To get involved, just register at homerunlondon.com. Find the tube line that most closely matches your route home and book your place. Then all you have to do is meet your running group at the designated time, drop your bag in the cargo bike and run to the tube stop nearest your home, where your bag will be waiting for you.
You’ll meet a friendly group of runners, save money, spare your back and skip the perils of public transport – queues, red mists and being squashed against sweaty fellow commuters, to name but a tiresome few.
Plus, when the Olympics kick off, transport traffic is expected to hit an all-time high (it’s predicted to double to 6.5 million on the busiest days in August). We know where we’ll be - running above ground and avoiding the chaos.
At present the scheme has thousands of runners signed up but only a handful of routes – though that will undoubtedly change knowing the enthusiasm of runners in the capital. Get voting to add your route if it isn’t already there.
Plus there’s some good news for non-Londoners (apologies if you’re feeling neglected), as the service is set to expand across the UK in the coming year.
We’re glad we’re not the only ones who think running is the best way to commute.
