If you’re feeling a hole in your life after the summer of sport, the Thrillseekers Adventure Film Festival might just fill the Olympic-sized gap.
Organisers of the film festival which kicked off this week promise to take the celebration of epic sporting endeavours from this summer’s Olympics into nature’s playground, with kayakers hurtling over waterfalls, mountain bikers descending the Himalayas and long-distance runners traversing the world - all in pursuit of the ultimate adrenaline rush.
The festival is being screened at 30 participating cinemas around the country over three thrill-themed nights: Endurance, Adrenaline and High Altitude Adventure.
The inspirational ode to trail running 5 Races, 5 Continents features in the Endurance night, following trail runner Kilian Jornet who in 2011 set out to win five races on five continents. From a 100-mile race in the scorching heat of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to a vertical ascent of Mount Kinabalu, the film follows Kilian’s experiences over the year and the ensuing tale is less about what he achieved, but rather what he learnt along the way.
