Rustle up fast food that's far tastier and healthier than your local takeaway

Ditch: Takeaway chicken tikka masala

Switch: Stomach-soothing chana masala with chickpeas

Iron-rich chickpeas are full of the fibre that is vital for good gut health, while their protein helps keep you feeling full for longer. Studies suggest cumin can help aid digestion, while coriander’s blood sugar-regulating credentials help you avoid the energy spikes and crashes that can lead you to overeat.

Make it!
Fry two tsp of cumin, one tsp of ground coriander, a pinch of salt, half a tsp of turmeric and half a chopped green chilli until fragrant. Add 800g of drained tinned chickpeas, a squeeze of lemon and 250ml of water. Bring to the boil and cook for 10-12 minutes until reduced. Add half a chopped red onion, some chopped coriander and the other half of the chilli. Mix, drizzle with olive oil and serve with lemon wedges.

Try this: Try mixed tinned pulses instead of chickpeas; add paneer cheese.

I like food too.  I find it hard to do without it, to be honest.

Only vegan food for me pref. raw! Non vegan just isn't food, which means I avoid non-veg restaurants due to lack of variety.

Why always goats cheese!  I love lots of different cheese but not goats. Why are restaurants obsessed with it?

I've been Vege since I was 10 yrs old - I'm 40 now

There have been some big changes over the years here in the UK Although it depends on where you go.

Brighton's GOOD

I don't get Chinese restaurants/take aways marking dishes with oyster sauce in as vege - Vegetarians do NOT eat meat or fish

Ive tried this meal. Very nice.

I did amend it slightly as not a big fan of rice so I added prawns/chicken & cashew nuts to veg stir fry. Ver tasky and does not bloat as would with rice. Lovely after a run.
