Introducing the fleet of experts who'll be leading the Target 26.2 team to Paris Marathon success.



Steve Smythe: Coach

Long-time RW staffer Steve Smythe is the author of our runnersworld.co.uk marathon schedules - so he's the perfect person to lead the team through the twists and turns of the 16-week plan.

Steve has run more than 60 marathons with a PB of 2:29, won a British age group marathon title and has run a sub-3 marathon in five different decades.

As a coach, Steve has helped marathon runners to British senior international level, British age group records and London Marathon age group wins.

Sam Murphy: Coach

Sam is one of the UK's leading fitness experts, and a keen runner. She has completed 15 marathons (with a PB of 3:22) and the Himalayan 100 Mile Race among numerous others.

In addition to her first class degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Sam is a level 2 UKA running coach and a tutor for England Athletics.

Sam has written seven books which have been published internationally, including Run for Life: The Real Woman's Guide to Running, and Marathon and Half Marathon: From Start to Finish.

Sarah Connors: Physiotherapist

Sarah Connors is a chartered physiotherapist who has specialised in treating track and field athletes for the last 20 years. She has worked for the British Athletics Team and was lead physio for the English Institute of Sport in London before setting up a successful sports injuries clinic.

Ruth McKean, Dietician

A member of the British Dietetic Association and Health Professional Council, Ruth McKean is a leading sports dietician and an advisor to the Scottish Institute of Sport. She is also a former Scottish National 5,000m champion.

Clifton Bradeley, Podiatrist

With 21 years' experience in clinical biomechanics, Clifton Bradeley is a podiatrist who specialises in treating runners. A former athlete himself, Clifton finished 20th in the World Cross-Country Championships and broke the British Indoor mile record in 1985.

Bud Baldaro: Running expert

Former national marathon coach Bud Baldaro is one of the UK's top middle and long distance running coaches.

With more than 20 years' experience of coaching athletes at all levels, Bud works as a mentor for England Athletics and is athletics coach at the University of Birmingham. Bud has coached Olympians, Commonwealth medallists, World and European champions and several UK record breakers.

Nicki Waterman, Fitness Expert

Nicki Waterman is one of the country's most high-profile and highly-respected fitness experts. She is the author of numerous best-selling books and fitness DVDs and holds Fitness For Industry, ACE (American Council on Exercise) and Focus Training advanced certificates.

Victor Thomson Victor Thomson

Victor Thompson, Clinical Sports Psychologist

Clinical Sports Psychologist Victor Thompson has 17 years experience working in the field, 14 of which focused solely on sport. Also a committed triathlete, competing for both Great Britain and Ireland and a keen participant in the Ironman event, he has used this diverse experience to help improve the performance of athletes from a wide range of sports, including running, tennis, cricket and triathlon.
