A big book but covers most about running and the marathon.
This is quite a good book to read. Sadly, its not a straightforward book so read it thoroughly. But in a nutshell, it will help you into running.
It have a starting out section which includes some tests about your current fitness and answers some concerns or questions you might have. The second section explains goes into training. It also explains technical jargon like lactate threshold and VOz max.
It also gives you good detail about buying shoes and running gear.
Very useful and handy.
The third section goes into exercises and warming up and gives
a good breakdown of exercises and well explained.
The next section is the 16 week programme which have different levels suited to you.
There is a section which is about motivation which is very useful and you can learn from what is said in this book.

A section called crisis management which is about safety, the weather, injury. A guide on preparing for race day and the race itself and after the marathon.
This is a book that covers most about running and the marathon.
It is well written but its really a book about running rather than soley on the marathon. Its a good reference and if you are a beginner, you can learn from this book too.
