Really good - genuinely very inspirational even if a little sugary.

This is a personal story about running, and because it is a personal, it grips you. Dean is clearly a very driven individual and that drive can infect you when and after reading this book. Indeed, if you have a partner or a friend who wonders why you run and put yourself through pain on purpose - lend it to them.
I can be a little 'cheesy' at times. But reading about someone else's running can be like reading those horrible summaries that some families send round at new year telling you how successful they have all been. Dean has skillfully steered clear of that - but it gets close at times!
Love him or hate him, this book will make you want to run, run more, run further or run all night. I really enjoyed it.

I read the book in 24 hours, I couldn't put it down. It was humbling and inspiring.

Such and easy and inspiring book to read. Dean has an easy writing style, no fuss and nonsense. I almost felt I was running with him! Now when I'm on a long run and I'm hurting I just smile and think of Dean running 200 plus miles or across the states and realise 16 miles is a mere trot!!
Too short! I couldn't fault the book. I am now hunting for his other books...
Well written both for the average Joe like me and for the more experienced runner. Something to buy for your couch potato friends to make them inspired and energised.

The most motivational book I've ever read. It really did change my thinking.

It immediately changed my mindset. I've read it a number of times. It made me realise that my mind could easily deal with the punishment my body was handing out. Hills for instance were all of a sudden something I could put up with no problem.
