Hello,

I'm having trouble uploading HRM files from the monitor/watch to my (new)pc via the IR interface using a USB connection (I do not have a comms port on the laptop unlike my old desktop pc).
I've run the checks in Windows XP using 'device manager' and everything seems to be working.
The software opens the 'monitor connection' box but states that the monitor isn't responding.
I do not get a light flashing on the IR interface so maybe this is at fault ?
Has anybody else had a similar problem ?

ps - I've uninstalled and reinstalled etc (spent 3 hours Friday night playing around).My current work-around is to upload the file to my old pc (with a comms port connection),email the file to my hotmail account then open it on my new pc.Not ideal !!!!

Any suggestions appreciated

Dunc - Is it the polar interface you are using. I couldn't get mine to work with a third party IR USB, but it worked fine when I got the polar. If it is the polar one, I presume you've played around with the IR settings in the polar software.

Hi Dunc,

It sounds like you're having the same problem that I had on my S710. If I remember correctly, the USB drivers had not been installed during the main software installation, so I had to do it manually.

If you don't know how to do this in Device Manager then the Polar website has instructions on how to do this if you go to their product support page and search for "installation package". This should give you a link which gives you everything you need to install the drivers...

I hope you get it all sorted soon!

It is one of Polar's own interfaces.
I've been reading through the help files on their website so I'll try the driver installation tonight (but I won't be spending 3 hours trying it this time !!)

I don't know the teccie names etc - but my polar HRM used to download brilliantly - until husband changed the location of where the IR connection plugged into - instead of the keyboard it went into the back of the computer's tower ( via a longer length of cable - unknown to me)

Took weeks to work out that the lead was so long that it wouldn't down load

Put it back into the back of the keyboard and it downloads fine

had a similar problem with my S710 at the weekend and the Polar IR interface

it would seem that installing the Polar program from disk does not install the relevant USB drivers as you would think.

head to Polar Support and type USB Driver int the search field. that will bring up 2 results - the one you want is "How to remove incorrectly installed drivers of Polar IR Interface for USB port
". Click on "Read more" and there is a link for the USB driver - download and install that - that will cure the problem.

Jumbo,

I got it to work in the end.
For some reason I had 'checked' the compatability box for Windows 95 (I used to run this software on an old pc).
Basically this hid the USB option from one of the drop-down lists.
Once I 'unchecked' the windows 95 box the USD option appeared and I was able to download from the monitor without a problem.

JUST ABOUT TO BUY A POLAR S610I, NOT SURE WHAT CONNECTION EQUIPTMENT I GET IF ANY. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATS THE BEST WAY TO DOWNLOAD RUNS TO A LAPTOP RUNNING WINDOWS XP AND WITH USB PORTS?

Infra red interface which you can get from polar or specialty shops. Read through the above - so go to the website and get info off there. I don't have any problems on XP and look at my runs in graph form etc which is great - can overlap other runs etc.
