Garmin Forerunner 305

Summary | Full Review | Reader Reviews | Gallery | Specs | Discussion

Garmin is generally considered to be the best choice of GPS for runners and its top-end Forerunner 305 shows why.

An SDM with HRM, the 305's many useful features include a virtual training partner and mapping function; you can also download RW's marathon schedules here.

Though the most bulky model on test (because it's a single-unit, wrist-top GPS), it was comfortable and had the advantage of a big, easily readable display.

Like most GPS units, it struggled to find a signal in central London but outside town it was up and running in seconds. It's simple to navigate round the functions and the display can be customised.

Some early glitches, such as an inaccurate calorie counter, have been fixed with downloadable software updates.
