Great training tool

ease of use
accuracy of distance/time measurements
virtual partner feature
problem with bezel in the wet at first- cured by locking bezel
elevation measurement is a joke- but bound to be as takes no account of atmosperic pressure caused by weather conditions, so can't measure altitude.
Would be lost without it!!

As good as my 305 and smaller!

Size - I deal, its not like having a laptop strapped to your wrist.
Backlight - very useful
Bezel can be temperamental
ANT agent had to be re-installed twice
I didn't find the Garmin website particularly user friendly
I like it - a lot. Compared to the 305 I find it easier to use (once you get used to it), smaller and much more reliable.
I'm still a big fan of the 305 but considering the mixed reviews I read about the 405 I can only say that my experience of it is largely positive. I do not like the software support or the Garmin website.

A very disappointing piece of kit which is a prototype at best

Mapping and analysis functions are good. Garmin connect has improved.
I've had two 405s and locating satellites continues to frustrate me. Sometimes it can take 30+ mins. Last week my device failed during a marathon, gave me incorrrect splits and thus created anxiety during a race.
I cannot rely on the 405 when I need it most. It isn't worth the money and after last week's failure during a marathon, I am actively seeking something more reliable.

Just got the CX version. Toppen!!!!!

Pinpoint acurate. great training tool. just what i need to push my training to the next level.
None so far. i need some more play time
As i run off road all the time in the forest the responsive GPS is perfect for mapping those difficult to measure runs. Great addition to my training.

A great running companion! Just get one.

Simple to use on the run, lots of options for training plans or just simply stick it on and run. The sprint training is great - gives you encouraging bleap count down at the end of each lap and the Garmin download site if great for mapping to google maps where you ended up.
None really. Did have a problem in the wet - but locking the bezel sorted that. Battery life does mean it needs charging once a week (after about 3 hours of running) - but it's quick to charge so not an issue.
With this and my iPod I have more technology on me than the moon landing, but both are great and have no issues!
