Suunto T6

Summary | Full Review | Reader Reviews | Gallery | Specs | Discussion
The T6 is an evolution of Suunto's X6 HR heart-rate monitor, and incorporates an SDM footpod and software package. Like most pod systems it has to be calibrated over a measured distance, but once we had it up and running it was very straightforward, intuitive to use and reassuringly accurate. That said, if you're buying this piece

of equipment just for its SDM functions then

you're wasting your money. Perversely, it has the weakest SDM functionality of the models on test as it doesn't stretch much beyond how far and how fast you're running. It does, though, offer far more tools for the serious scientifically-minded runner. In addition to the HRM, stopwatch and SDM features, there's an accurate barometer and altimeter and a PC-based software package that produces a bewildering array of graphs and training analysis.
