Updated review. Whilst working, excellent. Reliability is VERY poor though. Battery died after 17 months!

Well priced, with so many features. It made an enormous difference to my running whilst it worked...
Firstly the beeps went, then the battery completely died within 2 years of purchase. Simply not good enough. A longer warranty or a better build quality is required.
£150ish spent for only 17 months life. Simply not good enough, Garmin.

For the cash it's top dog

Once you are used to it's size(other more expensive models are smaller)it is an essential bit of kit. I have had mine 18 months now and use it daily for cycling to work, then for running at lunch and then on the return home. The average speed is my personal favorite and it is very accurate. I have fell several times during xcountry and landed on this watch and it still keeps going, so the robust build is a plus. If you are not bothered about pulse monitoring then this, for the money, is the one to buy.
My bleeper has given up the ghost and the battery life went through a phase of short life, however, having consulted a friend with the same model I now do not download my runs until the battery is fully discharged as this is what was causing it's poor life. When you connect it up to the usb to download it immediately starts to charge resulting in poor life.
Very good for the cash. More expensive models are smaller and better equipped but in some cases are triple the price. The only major niggle is it can be slow to initially pick up a signal in overgrown areas, when competing in xcountry be sure to switch on with 5 mins to spare.

Can't run without it. Invaluable, flexible, motivational.

Customizable screens, auto pause, backlight, virtual training partner, build-your-own workouts etc, etc!
The speaker failed after just over a year of running with it. It's a lot harder to keep looking at the screen all the time to check for alerts than it is to listen to the now-absent beeper trill.
Apparently I'm not the first person to report this problem either.
For its price, it can't be beaten.
An essential bit of kit for runners of all ranges of ability.
Perhaps some sort of bluetooth connection is needed to overcome the failing beeper problem though?

Brilliant for doing what it says on the tin

Easy to use, come home plug into laptop and see exactly where you have been. Recharges in quite a short time, 2 hrs use recharged in less than an hour.
When doing london marathon i set it as a marathon route, due to high buildings it got confused, i wanted to stop before Buck house as it said i had finished.............i did plod on to the end though.It can take a minute to receive sattelite signals, leave it on window ledge whilst gettin shoes on. Bikehike.co.uk course creator does the same job and is free.
Another great motivator, helps keep your training runs on track.

Lost without it!

Accurate,
can lose signal under trees, tunnels etc.
I am lost without it. Love it and would recommend it to a friend. Love the Auto pause! (if you are running in residential areas which include busy roads!)
