VERY GOOD-PROVIDES ENERGY, EASY TO USE, ABSORBS QUICKLY, TAS

Provides energy within a very short time. Easy to use. Stores easily into any type of running bag. Blackcurrant tastes nice. Can be used without water.
None really, bit sticky but that's it really.
For long runs 10-50 milers, use one half an hour before the start and then every 5 miles and if possible just before a drinks station so that the gel is absorbed quicker. Tried other makes but these are the best. Buy in boxes as much cheaper and use in conjunction with SIS powdered drinks.

MARATHON FOOD ON THE GO

easy to tuck into shorts, easy to neck on the go, most palatable of all of the gels i have tried
non-biodegradable packaging, sometimes lumpy
It took me a while to get used to energy gels on the go, but for longer distances there are not many options. After trialling loads of gels, SIS ticked the most boxes for me. They taste OK, as energy gels go. I prefer the tropical. It is possible to take without water but i prefer to wash it down with an electolyte drink. Importanty for me, they are easy to carry in your shorts, just tuck them in, or they can fold to fit in a pocket (just) and don't have an irritating plastic screw cap that digs into you whilst on the go. Performance boosting capabilities are good, and being isotonic allow the carbs to be absorbed quickly. It doesn't feel like it sits in your stomach. In addition, in consideration to the environment, they are easy to pop back in a pocket and transport to a bin or home, rather than add to our already littered county. Perhaps one improvement now would be a biodegradable package.

GEL OF CHOICE FOR EASY OF USE AND ENERGY

SIS are ideal for long runs as they need no water. They take up about the same space as other gels such as high 5 but being hypertonic makes them so much more convenient.
If you really are tired the twist of "top" can be hard to take off! If you get it on your hands then you really do need the water to wash it off as it just doens't seem to wipe off!
Great energy boosting portable power!

NO NEED FOR THAT BOTTLE OF WATER!!!

Small and easy to carry, if you need to. Will give you an energy boost very shortly after taking it. No need to take large quantities of water with you.
Taste, like everyone has mentioned ( a bit like unset jelly). Probably best to try the 2/3 types of flavour individually first, before you may a bulk purchase. The taste can vary a great deal, so you will have your own preference of which one you like.
A product that does really work, some people may find Lucozade Sport does the same job, the only problem is carrying it on a long run with you. When you first start using them, have a sip of water after a mouthfull to help wash it down, then as you get used to them you will not need the water.

CONVENIENT AND PALATABLE

Easy to use, I tried all three and found all the flavours palatable although i liked the tropical the best. They slipped down nicely and didn't leave a cloying taste or texture in my mouth like some do - the best I have tried
Found the tear off packaging a bit sharp in the mouth
The best sports gel that really gives a boost when you are flagging
