Extra spring is the main addition to the update of Asics’ flagship neutral-cushioned shoe. Solyte, a pillowy midsole material, has been added to give extra responsiveness, and the sockliner is made from memory foam for a plusher feel.

A wide toe-box with a breathable mesh upper impressed our testers who loved the roomier feel. The new asymmetrical lacing system was also popular, relieving pressure on the top of the foot while holding the shoe securely in place. The only slight issue was with the bulky dimensions of the shoe, which may not suit lighter runners.
