The two big changes to Asics' flagship cushioning model are both in the midsole, which is now made from the same SoLyte foam that debuted in the range-topping Kinsei. The main benefit of this is a 20g weight saving on the previous model, although it is slightly firmer. The shoe also has a gender-specific midfoot design. The plastic wrap under the midfoot of the women's shoe - which enhances the motion of the foot - is also different from the men's shoe to account for the wider angle of women's legs from the hips to the knee. On the upper there are more overlays for a little extra support.
