As with most Brooks shoes this update sees evolution rather than revolution. The upper is made of a denser, more supportive mesh, which has allowed Brooks to remove some of the overlays, reducing friction points, while improving the overall fit of the shoe. Brooks has also increased the thickness of the rubber in the forefoot outsole to improve cushioning. In the rearfoot, the deep grooves in the outsole have been repositioned a little to make for a smoother heelstrike to better disperse impact shock. There's now a bigger “crumple zone” moulded into the rearfoot EVA too, to improve the ride.
