Mizuno Wave Rider 12 (M)

Summary | Full Review | Reader Reviews | Gallery | Specs | Discussion
Plush cushioning

Lacks speed

Not too much has changed in the men's Rider – which is no bad thing, as it's a brilliant shoe.

Gender-specific tweaks include a slightly wider forefoot and improved fit. Mizuno has also added an Ortholite sockliner for a softer try-on feel. The Wave plate itself is now made using Pebax Rnew, an eco-friendly compound made using castor oil.

Fans of the old Wave Rider's soft and light feel won't be disappointed with this new version, though the increased plushness of this version put some of our testers off as they felt the shoe lacked speed. Fit is excellent from the first wear.

Our wear-testers say:

"The sole feels firm to the touch but is surprisingly soft. The cushioning makes this good for longer runs." - Scott Mitchell
