New Balance 1061

Summary | Full Review | Reader Reviews | Gallery | Specs | Discussion
New Balance won itself a few new fans with the cushioned 1060 and has sensibly kept changes to the minimum with this update. It has changed the last so that it is narrower in the heel and slightly broader in the forefoot – an area that some runners felt needed improving. It also features a seamless liner to reduce blister risk. The 1061 feels softer that the 1060 when you try it on, thanks to an extra layer of foam under the sockliner for a softer feel underfoot right out of the box. Despite the cushioning, the 1061 does feel rather stiff in motion, something confirmed by our flexibility tests, and as a result the ride could be smoother.
