The Pearl Izumi Cruise features cushioning Skydex pads in the heel and forefoot to absorb impact and increase response. Lacing eyelets that continue down the side of the shoe provide a snug fit around the midfoot, while a seamless upper reduces friction and chafing.

All testers were impressed by the comfort of the upper. The shoes are breathable, the seamless upper works well, and the lacing system is supportive. But for quite a bulky shoe the Cruise didn't offer as much cushioning as it might in the forefoot area, and the consensus from our female testers was that the shoe was too wide.
