Some people will say that the shoes degrade with age, others that it doesn't make much difference.
I virtually always buy shoes online which are discounted as previous models. If it was a good shoe last year, then it will be a good shoe now - and probably better than a "cheaper" new shoe retailing at the same price.
I'm not always convinced that the tweaks actually improve a shoe, and plenty of people go hunting about for previous models which particularly suited them, when the new model doesn't anymore.
The most often quoted advice given is not to get shoes over two years old, but I have no idea whether there is actually and evidence to support that or not.
