The Ride is lightweight and comfortable, great for the price too.
Lightweight.
Good forefoot support.
Good air-flow and environment for foot!
Not great over more muddy terrain, or fell trails.
May possibly unbalance certain runners, depending on running action.
The first thing to note is that the shoe is very comfortable (albeit coming from an inexperienced runner), and moulds around the foot nicely without being too narrow. The support is definitely decent as long as you're a neutral runner, and as a forefoot striker the support up front is more than adequate. Works well on road in particular.
It also seems quite lightweight on the whole, whilst allowing good air-flow and generally keeping a nice environment for your feet! Great price now too, if you can find them (2010).
Not fantastic for very muddy terrain due to the nature of the material, though it'll pass as long as you stay standing up! It also appears to make me run on the outside of my foot somewhat, though this is more exaggerating my natural running style.
Not too much else to say here, although you will typical find more support/lighter weight in more expensive shoes - whether they're worth it or not is another thing.
Taking the price and overall attributes of the shoe into one pot, extensive stirring shows that the Ride is a good all-purpose shoe for multiple types of terrain. It's quite lightweight, durable, and offers decent support for neutral runners without sacrificing anything of note. Highly recommended for any/all runners, but particularly for those looking at an entry-level to

Best shoe I've owned!
Smooth ride, suited my midfoot-striking style without much trouble, lasted for 800+ miles.
Toebox is perhaps a bit big for my feet (though my feet aren't massive!)
Fastastic Value for money. I now own the Ride 2 as a result of my experience with these, and after flitting around with other brands in the meantime, I can't see myself using anything but Saucony for a while!

NO PROBLEMS, COMFORTABLE.
Comfortable. No trouble. Has not fallen apart after loads of use and sole, stitching, etc is all in excellent condition.
Little toe wore through the edge of the shoe but prob due to my wide foot and very overused shoe.
I ran my first marathon in these, and in fact ended up wearing them almost all the time for all purposes. I wear them lots and they've never given me any problems whatsoever. What more can you ask? Oh and I have average feet very slightly overpronating possibly.

FAST, LACKS ARCH SUPPORT
It is light, fast and durable. The extra padding in the forefoot that Saucony has supplied is admirable.
No arch support. Saucony claims that they built the Ride "...closer to the ground". Even so, a little arch support would go a long way.
I have medium arches. I bought my Rides in July 08' and got blisters under my arches from the constant motion and rubbing. The removal of the factory insoles and the addition of Spenco Poly-Sorb insoles has pretty much corrected the problem, giving me a little more arch support, cushioning at the perimeter of the midfoot and a less-abrasive surface for the sock to rest on. I am glad, and bewildered, that others with normal or high arches find the Ride comfortable. Myself, I'm going back to the Omni when these have worn out.
