The Gel Foundation is a light, responsive motion control model and Asics has chosen to tinker only slightly with this latest version. Wearers of version 6 will notice a little more room in the toe-box, thanks to a subtle repositioning of the overlays in the upper. There’s now more mesh around behind the big toe, where some runners develop bunions. The Foundation 7 also offers more cushioning than its predecessor thanks to an extra layer of foam underneath the sockliner. Our lab tests also found that the Foundation 7 is the most flexible shoe in its category, which means that lighter runners with motion control needs should find it a decent ride.
