The Abzorb foam unit in the rearfoot has been altered, with air pockets above the foam pad to give a smoother rolling action and more cushioned heelstrike. The inside of the shoe has a new upper liner, and has been treated with Cocona - a coconut-derived carbon treatment that cools your feet and controls odour. Plastic overlays have been added, which make the shoe even more stable. Though 20g lighter than the 1223, it has lost none of the stability and if anything is an even firmer shoe - both our lab tests and wear-testers back this up. It is quite bulky though, with a high toebox. Our wear-testers say: "These were really comfy from the first run. My feet are wide so it's difficult to get a good fit but these come up trumps." - Sarah Overall
