Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS

Summary | Full Review | Reader Reviews | Gallery | Specs | Discussion
Above-average flexibility

Soft cushioning
Pitched by its makers as the 'ultimate stability shoe', the latest Stabil features a support post that runs into the forefoot area for maximum pronation control. The shoe is also based on a new last that's wider in the midfoot and roomier in the toebox – meaning orthotic inserts can be more easily accommodated.

Unlike most motion control shoes, which tend to be quite firm underfoot, our lab tests show the Stabil's flexibility to be above average. Testers liked the shoe's fit and feel, though one thought the cushioning was a little too soft in the forefoot. Our wear-testers say:

"One of the best shoes I have used in recent years, and I get through three pairs a year."

- Mike Mann
