Cushioning

Variable fit
his new shoe, aimed at beginners (as the name suggests) is designed to be fast and supple underfoot. It's designed mostly on the same lines as the Pegasus, but has thin bands of wire connecting the laces to the midsole to lock the upper to the midfoot – aiding stability – while leaving plenty of room around the ball of the foot.

At less than 300g this is right on the borderline between neutral cushioning shoe and performance shoe, so it's definitely one for lighter, more efficient runners. Our testers noticed an impressive level of cushioning for the weight and great flexibility. They found the fit roomy around the toes but some found it narrow elsewhere.

Our wear-testers say:

"Good for speedwork. The main issue for me was it felt too tight, but the whole feel did get better as I broke them in."
