NICE 'N' GRIPPY

Very comfy, just like some nice slippers, grippy, free draining, lightweight. Not as many 'Swoop prints' in the hills. Flexible and thin soled but with some cusioning. Bright orange uppers
after a few miles and 3/4s up scald law i noticed that right insole had slipped back with teh left slowly following it. going downhill they began moving back into place.

the mesh is really low so while they are free draining you do get wet feet very quickly in shallow mud and puddles but, it does keep your feet cool.
Nice shoes but let down by the insole slipping. hence the less than perfect rating.

I got these to provide more grip going down hill so i can go faster, which they do and so do i now. My Asics toranas were no where near as grippy as i'd like.

AMAZINGLY GRIPPY

Great fitting shoe giving you so much confidence in any Cross-country conditions. Light-weight shoe. Easy to clean after muddy excursions.
occasional heel slip.
laces tend to come undone unless double-tied.
Excellent shoe well suited to mud & hills.
In my third season of Cross-country with this shoe & still going strong.
Very well recommended.

OKAY SO FAR

Seem to fit better than Walsh PBs and offer more support / cushioning- i.e. are not such a shock after road shoes all summer.

Uppers seem pretty resistant to getting dirty (shame as they're so orange).
Got blisters on one arch after first two runs (have never had this before- seems to have stopped now).

Don't feel as grippy as PBs to me.
Last year was my first XC season and I ran in Walsh PBs (bought online without sizing). They nearly crippled me (2 sizes too small). After trying them one more time this year I hobbled to a shop and bought the Swoops.

In the shop they felt better than a few pairs of Mudrocs that I tried, and so far I am happy (3 XC races to date this winter).

The Walsh were excellent for grip and these don't look like they would match Walsh on VERY steep, VERY muddy climbs but have been okay thus far on slimy mud, wet grass and leaves.

Also look like they will go the distance as they have shrugged. off dirt so far. I bang them together after races and they are fine. The Walsh shoes used to take 4 days to dry!
