I LOVE THEM

Very comfortable and light.
Sometimes - and only in dire steep mud - the grip is a little wanting
I really like these shoes. Have used them for a number of races from 5 mile cross country races, trail runs - right up to the Grizzly and have found them comfortable and had no problems

VERY HIGH 'COLLAR' WHICH GAVE ME A SWOLLEN ANKLE

It's and Inov-8: so it's light, well constructed and, well, cool it would seem!
I find Inov-8s too narrow fitting. But that isn't the real problem with this one. I bought these for a trail running and walking holiday in France this summer. Only a 20k walk (yes walk) on trails led to a severely swollen ankle and 4 days of enforced rest. The reason: the collar or cuff (not sure what it's called but the bit that sits round your ankle) is higher than on any other trainers I've ever owned (hence my not paying too much attention to this when purchasing them) and this high collar/cuff banged against that protruding bone we all have in our ankles till it swelled up and was very tender.
A couple more points. On hard surfaces such as packed trails you can clearly feel the lugging on the sole pressing into your feet. I replaced the standard insoles with Sorbothane which has improved them immensely, but you can still feel the lugging in the forefoot... surely that is a flaw?
The are also, quite surprisingly, very poor at gripping in the wet.
Maybe they're not as good as their reputation. Or, maybe they just don't suit me. I'll stay agnostic on this, with regards to my problems with the fit.
One thing I do know, is that despite their heavy lugging, which you can feel through the sole on all but the softest terrain, they are surprisingly not that grippy. I've never had a pair of trainers (road or trail)that I slip in so much when the ground is wet.

Lightweight, great grip, fine off road
Cushioning is better than many off roaders but still inadequate
After two pairs looking for something else
