AN (ALMOST) ALL-SEASON SHOE WITH GOOD STABILITY.
The shoe uses Goretex, so water, mud, snow etc are kept away from your feet and are easily washed away after a good run. The shoe is a narrow fit but offers enough room for when things get a little warmer and your feet swell up. The shoe is perfect on a trail but is also ideal for the road, with good feedback, not too much spring and adequate cushioning - although I'm still to run more than 20km in them so my opinion could change! In the forest, this shoe is a go-anywhere, do-anything shoe. Superb support, comfortable and grippy. I haven't found better!!
The weather is warming up now and with it, so are the shoes! With more than 20°C and a distance over 15km, my feet did start to get hot but that is to be expected from such a shoe. The breathable membrane kept moisture to a minimum so I suffered not ill-effects during the run or indeed latter. The only real downside is the low fitting of the shoe. Tighten the laces a little too much and found after 10km, the shoe could cut into the front of your ankle. The loop-lace technique half way down the shoe will allow those narrow-footed amongst us to wear the shoe tight without it cutting in and causing injury.
This is the Ian Botham of running shoes. A superb all-rounder that is solid, strong, supportive and can cope with the worst the competition (or mother Earth) can throw at them. But watch the diet. These guys have a few more pounds than their counterparts - as every good all-rounder should have!! Right, Ian??
