Scott MK4

Responsiveness enhanced by the low-profile midsole.

Stiff, took some time to wear in.

A successor to the popular MK3, this shoe received mixed reviews. It rated highly on responsiveness, which was enhanced by the low-profile midsole and a bulkier mid section on the outsole giving more ground contact. But the lab rated the shoe as stiff and testers reported that it took some time to wear in. A new type of lighter foam in the midsole makes for a fast, light experience but it feels almost too cushioned in the forefoot, giving the sense of an unstable base to push off from.
